eighty20.org works within several areas to help define effective communications strategies.  Below is a breakdown of how eighty20.org sees the communication process.  By understanding this process and how it applies to your organization, you will be able to develop and deliver key messages to stakeholders that are effective and have impact.  Your message will create change and strengthen your relationships.

In order to understand what you want to say and who you want to say it to is sometimes not easy BUT it is very important.  Understanding these two 'key message' criteria will help you define when and where you want to speak and how to deliver it.  Conferences, media alerts, websites, social media, blogs, community forums, films and videos are all important but which channel is appropriate to increase the multi-stakeholder linkages and achieve your desired goal?

eighty20.org will help you answer the following questions:

  • Who is my main stakeholder or audience?
  • Should our organization try to reach multiple audiences?
  • How does our online communications plan fit into the overall strategy?
  • How are we connected to them?
  • How are they connected to each other?
  • What are our key messages?
  • What do we want them to do?
  • How do we distribute our message to each audience while avoiding the risk of mixed messages?

Once you have defined who, what, when, where and how, you need to define what content, content type and content form is appropriate. Each communication channel and delivery has it's own merit but not all are appropriate in order to reach your stakeholders.  Not all content is created equal.

eighty20.org will help you answer the following questions:

  • What is quality content and how does our organization manage the process to create it?
  • Which communication medium is best?
  • What is the best content type to use that is effective and has an impact?
  • How do I insert key messages into content - both editorial and multimedia?
  • What is the best delivery channel to reach each stakeholders?
  • How can I reach the same stakeholder using multiple channels?
  • What are Web 2.0 and social media tools and when are they appropriate?
  • What technology do I need to use - or do I need to use any at all?
  • How do we create public/private, global/local and internal/external information?

Once you have completed this process and are creating quality content, you want to maintain these standards and continue to delivering it properly to your stakeholders.  You also have to adapt to the changing environment in order to continue to engage your stakeholders.  You have to measure the impact of your message and content.

eight20.org can help you answer the following questions:

  • How do we measure the effectiveness and impact of our key messages?
  • How do I know if  our stakeholders are changing or have new requirements?
  • Are there new key messages that are more effective and work to achieve our goals?
  • How do we continue and strengthen our relationships with our partners?
  • What new technologies or channels are available?
  • What new products and services can we offer?
  • How do we maintain funding for our communications strategy?
